چکیده

Carbonaceous adsorbents with controllable surface area and the microporous volume ratio (Vmicro/Vpore) were activated from carbonized corncobs (i.e., char) with KOH etching plus CO2 gasification in this work. Activated carbons derived from KOH/char ratio equal to 1 and CO2 gasification time from 0 to 60 min exhibited BET surface area increasing from 1071 to 1991 m2 g−1 and the Vmicro/Vpore values decreasing rapidly from 0.805 t t t t w e t ©

Preparation, characterization and phenol adsorption capacity of activated carbons from African beech wood sawdust

In the present study, different activated carbons were prepared from carbonized African beech wood sawdust by potassium hydroxide activation. The activated carbons were characterized by brunauer–emmett–teller, scanning electron microscope, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analyzer. The phenol adsorption capacity of the prepared carbons was evaluated. The d...

Preparation, characterization and adsorption performance of the KOH-activated carbons derived from kenaf fiber for lead (II) removal from waste water

In this study, activated carbon was prepared from kenaf fiber (KF) by using physiochemical activation method consisting of potassium hydroxide (KOH) impregnation with carbon dioxide (CO2) gasification. Pore structure and physical characteristics of the prepared activated carbon were determined. Adsorption studies for divalent lead (Pb) were carried out to delineate the effect of contact time, t...

Column operation studies for the removal of dyes and phenols using a low cost adsorbent

Fertilizer plant waste carbon slurry has been investigated after some processing as an adsorbent for the removal of dyes and phenols using columns. The results show that the carbonaceous adsorbent prepared from carbon slurry being porous and having appreciable surface area (380 m2/g) can remove dyes both cationic (meldola blue, methylene blue, chrysoidine G, crystal violet) as well a...
